Microchiping is a safe, permanent method of identifying your pet if it gets lost. A small chip about the size of a grain of rice is placed just beneath the skin between the shoulder blades. Each microchip has an individual ID number which is registered to you. If your pet is recovered by an animal shelter or vet clinic a scanner will detect the chip and ID number. They can then call a 24 hour hotline and obtain your name and number. There are no membership fees and it is free to update your information when you move. The microchip can never be lost or tampered with making it a much more reliable way of identifying your pet than a collar and tag.
