Kibble Design
Research has shown that a larger kibble encourages increased chewing - which in turn helps to scrub away dental plaque. Using a special manufacturing process (longitudinal extrusion), the texture of the kibble is designed to increase tooth penetration for a greater 'scrubbing' effect.
Tartar Reducing Ingredients
The coating on the kibble of Dental Formula contains a blend of polyphosphates, which are active tartar reducing ingredients. Polyphosphates lessen tartar formation by binding the calcium that naturaly occurs in saliva. Binding calcium interferes with its ability to combine with plaque and form tartar. Phoyphophates have been demonstrated to be effective in the human oral health care field and are commonly found in human foods. Polyphosphates are highly effective in reducing tartar formation on all teeth, including the non-chewing surfaces.
